Think of the person…
Not the product and don’t be swayed by pretty packaging. Follow your nose – when you smell the scent does it remind you of her? Have you smelled something similar on her before?

Take lifestyle into consideration
If she’s a working woman, perhaps a more niche fragrance is appropriate. If she’s a stay-at-home mum, a scent that’s more practical might do the trick.

Consider the pieces in her wardrobe
Does she have dramatic accessories, scarves, belts, shoes and jewellery? Then perhaps a bolder scent is her perfect new accoutrement. If she prefers a more conservative approach to clothes such as neutral colours and pared-down accessories then a softer, more discreet scent will do nicely.

Get sneaky
Plan a shopping trip and stop by the fragrance counters. Take note of what she likes and what stands out for her. She’ll never know what you’re up to, until she unwraps the gift!
