Simone Anderson’s inside-out approach to her health journey

To help heal her body – and the resulting scars – post surgery, Simone Anderson used premium-grade nutricosmetics as part of her holistic wellness journey.

When Simone Anderson decided, around four-and-a-half years ago, to embark on her almost 100-kilogram weight-loss journey, she knew she needed to approach her health, wellness and beauty routine from a holistic angle.

“I knew it couldn’t just revolve around food and exercise,” she says, “I needed to uproot my entire thought process around what it meant to live a ‘healthy’ life.”

Last year she underwent her second operation to remove the excess skin on the lower half of her body as a result of her dramatic weight loss, and afterwards, began to supplement her diet with Adashiko collagen powder to help her body through the healing process. What resulted was a noticeable change in the speed of reduction in her scarring compared with her experience of scarring after her first surgery.

Simone shares her journey and how she incorporates Adashiko Ultra Collagen Powder as part of her everyday wellbeing routine.

What are some non-negotiables for you when it comes to your personal wellbeing?
No matter how busy I am, my day must involve looking at myself and my body in the mirror and repeating self-affirmations. I must also find two 5 to 10-minute slots throughout the day where I can just sit in silence, meditate and re-centre myself. I try to fuel my body with as many fruits and vegetables as possible and stay clear of processed or packaged foods but I am far from perfect. For me, life needs to involve a whole lot of balance or I would be miserable.

You started taking Adashiko Collagen as away to heal your body from your lower body skin removal surgery. What have the results been like in terms of your scarring?
After my first skin removal surgery, it took my scars around a year to get to the point that the new scars did at just three months post op. I put it all down to Adashiko; it was the only thing in my routine I had changed. My scars are now almost invisible and I am not even one-year post-op.

Were there any other unexpected changes you noticed in your body after taking Adashiko Collagen?
I first started to notice changes in my hair and nails followed by my skin’s appearance and rapid scar healing. My nails have always grown so slowly and been incredibly weak; they now grow like weeds, which is a great thing but does mean more frequent manicures!

How does Adashiko compare to other collagen products you’ve tried?
I had tried a number of different collagen powders that were on the market in New Zealand and I found they all had quite a nasty taste. Adashiko says it’s tasteless and it truly is. You can even just have it in a glass of water!
I also didn’t notice many changes in my appearance with other powders, despite taking them for often four-plus months.

How do you incorporate Adashiko into your daily nutritional and skincare routine?
It’s the first thing I do every morning; head to the kitchen pour myself a
glass of water, add my Adashiko Ultra Collagen Powder and then swig it back with my vitamins. I then use the Adashiko Collagen + Noni Gel both in the morning and evening as an extra benefit to my skin.
