Cibo Parnell, one of Auckland’s most desirable dining locations, has introduced an express lunch menu – making zipping out of the office for a delicious bite that much more fabulous.
We decided to put Cibo’s express lunch to the test this week. Could we really be treated to three courses and be in and out in 45 minutes? Arriving at 1pm, we were warmly greeted by the Cibo staff (they’re part of what makes the restaurant such an inviting place to dine) and were immediately given menus as we sat down.
I chose the free-range pork belly with Bali flavours, pineapple sambal and a pulled pork donut for entrée and within 15 minutes, it was in front of me ready to be devoured. The plate was clean in five minutes flat. For the main I chose crispy skinned fish with chipotle shrimp, minted pea salad and prawn cracker – which arrived right on schedule, about 10 minutes after the plates were cleared from the entrée.
A selection of Cibo dessert treats appeared at the table as we finished the last bites of our mains, so we could finish off with a bite of brownie, ginger slice and marshmallow without delay.
The food was certainly served within the time-frame, and we could have been in and out in 45 minutes, if the chat at the table hadn’t been so entertaining. What’s the point in leaving as soon as you’re done eating, if you have a little extra time to enjoy great company with a bottle of Taittinger on the side…?
Cibo’s express lunch menu is available weekdays from 12noon – 4pm and is priced at $44 for two courses or $49 for three.
