Do you remember this cream? Oil of Olay was the mainstay of our mothers’ beauty routine for generations and while this cream is no longer, the brand Olay is still loved by billions of people all over the world. Procter & Gamble (P&G), the company that make Olay, is celebrating 175 years this month, with brands such as Pantene, Vicks and Oral B and of course Olay, which  has been in bathrooms across New Zealand for the past 27 years.

One of the stories we love the most is how Olay was created. It was made by South African chemist Graham Wulff back in 1952 for his wife Dinah, who wanted a light moisturizer rather than the thick cold creams of that time. Wulff set to work (don’t you love that) in his home laboratory to make his wife’s dream-cream come true. Olay Beauty Fluid was the result.

Today the Olay brand is one of the most innovative, research-based and affordable on our shop shelves. Products such as Regenerist are proof of that, meeting the needs of our ageing skins and busy lifestyles.

Happy birthday, P & G. We can’t wait to see what you will launch over the next 175 years.
