Trump turns to Twitter yet again to air his views.

US President Donald Trump has taken to Twitter over Nordstrom’s decision to stop stocking his daughter Ivanka Trump’s products in its stores.

President Trump tweeted that Nordstrom had treated his daughter “so unfairly” despite her being a “great person”, as well as retweeting the message from his official @POTUS account. For real?

Earlier this week we learnt the department store had removed listings of Ivanka Trump’s products – which included clothing, shoes and accessories – from the company’s website, and that her name had been removed from the store’s list of available brands.

A Nordstrom spokesperson has responded to President Trump’s tweet with the following statement:

“To reiterate what we’ve already shared when asked, we made this decision based on performance. Over the past year, and particularly in the last half of 2016, sales of the brank have steadily declined to the point where it didn’t make good business sense for us to continue with the line for now. We’ve had a great relationship with the Ivanka Trump team. We’ve had open conversations with them over the past year to share what we’ve seen and Ivanka was personally informed of our decision in early January.”

There has been considerable backlash over President Trump’s tweet, with some social media users calling President Trump’s decision to make a statement against the retailer from his official account unethical.

Despite the company insisting the move is not political, there is speculation slower sales may have been due to the #GrabYourWallet campaign to boycott companies that support the Trump family.

As we mentioned earlier this week, it appears US retail chain Neiman Marcus has also removed the President’s daughter’s line (it is no longer listed on the stocked designers page) and there is increasing pressure on Macy’s to do the same.
