Adrian Hailwood’s A/W 17 collection was pure magic, we chat with the designer backstage after the show.
How are you feeling after the show?
Great, yeah I feel really good. Normally I’m so nervous, and then it’s all over and then it’s great!
What was the inspiration behind the collection?
The inspiration was my mother actually; the choir and everything, it was all about my mum Catherine. I just wanted to celebrate her life, so there were lots of Scottish motifs throughout the collection and her favourite colour was gold. We could definitely feel her backstage.
Tell me a little bit about the fabrics you used throughout the collection?
We made all of the fabrics ourselves, so I designed the fabrics first really and it took four to five months to create.
What is your favourite piece from the collection?
I always like the sparkly dresses at the end, but my favourite one would have been the black gown that Ella wore, the second to last look.
Tell me about the beauty look for the show?
I work with MAC and Goldwell and they come up with the ideas with me so we wanted something a bit glam but not so obvious.
