At the Ports 1961 SS ’14 show in Milan recently Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director for Wella was inspired by the clean, sharp lines of this collection. “When I first saw the collection, the clothes were so perfect that they reminded me of illustrations, as if they had been drawn on paper. This gave me the idea of creating a hair look that echoed this feeling, a hair look with not one single hair out of place, yet at the same time had interest,” said Souleiman.

And while it looks effortless, this easy-looking style does require some skill. Here’s how to get the look at home.

  • Start with freshly washed hair, and blow dry using a paddle brush with a styling lotion to create a flat, smooth style.
  • Run straightening irons through dry hair to create a perfect smooth, finish.
  • Create a low side parting from ear to ear at the back of the head across the crown, clipping the rest of the hair forward out of the way. Pull the back section of hair into a ponytail positioned low, in the middle of the back of the head, spray with Wella Professionals Stay Styled Hairspray.
  • Next, unclip the front section of the hair, using a soft bristle brush, brush the hair flat down to the head and low behind the ear, and tie the longer section in to the ponytail.
  • Next, squeeze some Wella Professional Sculpt Force Gel in to a bowl, and then using a tinting brush, paint gel on to the front strip of the hair, bringing the gel down to meet the ponytail at the back of the head following the direction of the hair, to create a contrasting texture.
  • Spray the ponytail with water to create a damp, malleable texture. And then, twist the ponytail into a bun and pin into place. For the show, Souleiman sprayed hair with Wella Professionals Shimmer Delight Shine Spray for an extra glossy finish.
