Stylist Dario Cotroneo talks to us about colouring.

I want to colour my hair but I’m unsure of what shade to go for. Any advice?
As a general rule, you should only change your hair colour by a maximum of two shades lighter or darker. This will help maintain a natural look and will minimise the risk of a colour disaster. Semi-permanent colours are a good option if you are wishing to go darker and are unsure about committing to a colour in the long term, as most semi-permanents will disappear after 10 to 15 washes.

I am beginning to go grey, but I’m not quite ready to embrace it. Is there a low- maintenance way to hide the silver?
Depending on your natural hair colour, blonde highlights around the front hairline, part line and the crown area are great for making grey less noticeable. Asking your colourist to just cover the areas of grey, matched to your natural colour, is also an option – one that is low-maintenance and less time-consuming than a full colour.
