Nordic chic: A look at Pandora’s new Essence collection and their partnership with Australian Fashion Week

The Danish jeweller has brought its iconic adornments down under to join Australian Fashion Week.

Australian Fashion Week has joined forces with none other than Danish Jeweller, Pandora for 2024. Renowned for their quality craftsmanship and design, the partnership was a natural alignment for Pandora, who are AFW’s first-ever presenting partner and official jewellery partner. Fashion Week attendees can expect a number of activations from the brand across the five days, including the closing runway show on May 17 — one of the few shows available to the public.

Pandora at AFW

One standout pop-up accessible on-site is Pandora’s BE LOVE activation – one that our editor in chief Sarah Murray experienced firsthand. “The BE LOVE activation was easy to spot,” she said. “Housed in the AFW hub, and clad in its signature pink, the space allows you to explore their collection and engraving services.”

Running for the entire duration of AFW, the activation showcases a curated range of pieces from Pandora’s Moments collection for guests to peruse. To further complement their stylish ’fits, brand lovers can personalise their jewellery picks further by sampling the new engraving service. With an array of pendants and charms available to customise, it’s as easy as picking your message or motif — the rest is done for you. “It’s pretty high tech — you simply choose what piece you’d like, and what message you want engraved and within minutes it’s done!” adds Murray.

On Pandora’s new Essence collection

With so many options to choose from, we can’t help but be biased towards the brand’s newest ‘Essence’ collection. Drawing its inspiration from lines and forms found in nature as well as Nordic design aesthetics, the range is simple yet elevated — offering a variety of structured earrings, cuffs, necklaces and rings that juxtapose structure with softness. “We are very excited to introduce a new collection with an inherently organic design aesthetic,” said Francesco Terzo and Alessandr Filippo Ficarelli, SVP Creative Directors at Pandora. “With Pandora Essence, we want to represent the idea of freedom, while creating sensual designs that invite to touch. Nature was an important inspiration, yet we wanted to take this in a more specific direction that touches upon Pandora’s DNA.”

As a prelude to the collection’s launch, the brand hosted an intimate event in Sydney’s Vaucluse suburb during AFW with only 120 VIP, media and influencers invited. Receiving a bespoke Pandora pink cocktail on arrival, guests had the opportunity to view and try on the Essence adornments in person.

Comprising 50 pieces, the collection is crafted from high quality materials including sterling silver and 14K gold plating — inviting wearers to experiment with the mixed metals trend. In true Pandora style, the Essence necklaces and rings are ideal for layering and stacking together, yet they make just as striking a statement when worn alone. Baroque pearls lend an elegant finish to many pieces, ensuring their timeless appeal in your collection.

The Essence collection is available in-store and online from the 16th of May. To see how our editors styled their selections from the range, head over to the FQ Instagram
