Fashion heavyweights NOM*d and Juliette Hogan are returning to the New Zealand Fashion Week fold this year in a move organisers say shows renewed optimism in the industry.
The designers join veterans Zambesi, Stolen Girlfriends Club, Trelise Cooper, Andrea Moore and Hailwood, as well as Kate Sylvester who confirmed her attendance after a four-year hiatus from the event.
Managing Director Dame Pieter Stewart said while the NZFW lineup changed every year, the return of some of New Zealand’s better-known designers showed a more united industry.
“That’s the sense we’re getting this year, a renewed confidence from designers and the industry as a whole,” Dame Pieter said.
NOM*d have not participated in NZFW for two years and Juliette Hogan hasn’t shown a collection since 2012.
There are a few newcomers to the lineup this year too, including Auckland designer Lucy McIntosh and Napier-based label Pardon My French.
Dame Pieter said it was exciting to have a talented group of new designers coming through the ranks.
NZFW runs from August 25, with NOM*d kicking off the industry event on August 26.
