Several local designers are foraying into bridalwear, giving wedding style a unique edge. Ingrid Starnes has based her bridesmaids’ collection on some of her classic designs. “We decided to make a range in some of the special silks and fabrics we have found work well,” says Ingrid. Candy colours are taking a step back in favour of blush, aquamarine, grey, turquoise, orchid, pistachio and navy; soft yet classic shades that add a hit of colour without looking garish. Whites and creams are also having a moment and are no longer considered taboo lest they upstage the bride. Interesting necklines have become a focus – think collarbone-grazing cuts of demure sensuality. We also love layering, with slips peeking through sheer fabrics.
