A recent graduate outside of the fashion realm, with a degree in marine biology, Rebe Burgess decided to take the plunge and follow her passion by starting her accessories label Rebe. Her first line features wide rimmed, straw and wool hats.
FQ: Where does your inspiration come from?
Rebe: Oh, the list is so long! My fascination with the ocean will always continue to inspire decisions I make. The amazing people in my life, my friends and family, are a big inspiration and support. I have many images saved to my desktop of places, beautiful architecture, nature and surf, art, iconic women, stylish women, street style photography, vintage, old books… I could keep going on…
How do you make your hats?
Each hat I design is handcrafted right here in New Zealand. I like to use quality materials to ensure every hat lasts through all of life’s amazing moments. All styles are produced in small runs to keep each hat that extra bit special.
What’s next for you?
I have a few things in the works: I’m about to launch a new line of wool felt hats and down the track I would love to delve into other accessories…
