This is one perfume you’ll want sitting pretty on your shelf.
Mon Guerlain’s new fragrance Bloom of Rose couldn’t be more appropriately timed: in the wake of International Women’s Day, and as we continue to experience the power of a women’s right movement that is only growing in velocity, this fragrance, much like the modern woman, is a marker of femininity, confidence, identity and individuality.
It’s apt then for Angelina Jolie, the face of Mon Guerlain fragrance since 2017 and a multifaceted symbol of femininity, to be the inspiration for Guerlain’s master perfumer Thierry Wasser and his co-creator Delphine Jelk, to develop the latest iteration of the scent.
Jolie’s ability to juggle her role as mother, activist and Hollywood star and her very real and ongoing evolution as a woman who learns and grows with every obstacle overcome and every accomplishment achieved, reflects this new era of female icons.
In the campaign, her tattoos are unapologetically uncovered, openly sharing the stories of her past. Her lips are coloured a playful and uninhibited shade of pink and her hair tousled and carefree, demonstrating a woman who is unafraid to be herself wholly and completely; someone who is embracing the ‘now’ but is excited for and unafraid of the future.
The fragrance notes tell a similar story. The original Mon Guerlain fragrance notes of lavender, Sambac jasmine, vanilla tahitensis and Australian sandalwood are all there, but Bloom of Rose adds in new notes of neroli and Bulgarian rose to create a more complex scent, which feels much like the many layers and complexities of femininity.
The bottle itself, inspired by the iconic Quadrilobe bottle designed by Gabriel Guerlain and manufactured by Baccarat in 1908, will look beautiful sitting amongst your other makeup pretties in your beauty cupboard and will be a versatile, fresh and uplifting addition to your fragrance “wardrobe”.
