Find out how model of the moment Manahou Mackay gets through fashion week in an exclusive diary entry.
In 2017 Manahou Mackay was the breakout star of New Zealand Fashion Week, and the name on everyone’s lips. So it follows that when it came to booking shows this year, the best brands were clamouring to secure her for their shows. It meant her days were packed but when we caught up with her throughout the week she showed no trace of exhaustion, never without her enthusiastic smile, and infectious laugh.
One thing that can take its toll, at least on skin, is the endless makeup changes required walking in back to back shows, so we asked Manahou to take us through her day in beauty, during a day of NZFW.
Read Manahou’s diary below:
6:45 am …Up with the birds! I like to use Arbonne RE9 Advanced Prepwork Gel Eye Masks before heading to make up for my first show, it makes me look hydrated and bright-eyed. Can’t be having crusty under eyes. That nasty.
9:00 am …Arrived on set and power chugging some H2O. Gotta keep hydrated to get through long days.
9:45 am …Time for hair and makeup before the Twenty-seven Names show. The products used by Kiekie (Stanners) from MAC to create my ‘no-make- makeup’ look include MAC Hyper Real Foundation in Violet FX mixed with MAC Goldlite Strobe Cream to create a glow, before applying MAC Waterweight Foundation.
11:00 am …Cute fact: The dress I’m wearing in the show is named after me – the Mana dress.
12:00 pm …Avocado on the go – love!
3:00 pm …Back into hair and make up for Trelise Cooper. With full-on days I usually let the makeup artists remove the previous show’s makeup.
5:00 pm …I love my MAC Studio Fix plus to give me that glow and falsies to take me to the afterparty! MAC’s amazing Liz Huyn used more glowing skincare and foundation and MAC Pure White Chromaline a to beat my face for the Gods today.
10:00 pm …A quick change of clothes and off to the after party!
2:00 am …After a long day of shows, makeup and glasses of wine, coconut oil is my favourite way to remove all the heavy makeup and rehydrate my skin in preparation for the repeat tomorrow!
