It’s the busiest week of the fashion year, so making sure we look and feel good amongst the madness is no small feat.
Here at Miss FQ, we’ve been talking about New Zealand Fashion Week for months; carefully curating and planning our outfits so that we put our most fashionable foot forward – not to mention coordinating around everyone’s outfit plans so we’re not spotted in matching ensembles (if we did, that would be a case for our sister brand Fashion Quarterly‘s famous NZFW bingo).
There’s something about NZFW that brings a buzzing vibe to the office and we’re constantly on the lookout for game-changing garments that’ll keep our style in check. But purchasing a whole new look for a week of fashion isn’t always realistic – so making room in our wardrobe for key pieces that will give us a new and fresh outfits were on the top of our to-buy list.
Opting for on-trend pieces that can be mixed in with classics that are already in our closet is a non-negotiable, so the Miss FQ team hit Forever New to check out their latest range.
Below are the items they’re loving and what they wore to the busiest week in NZ fashion:
Courtney wears:
Forever New Aria Boxy Co-Ord jumper, Forever New Mia satin slip skirt, Tommy Hilfiger sneakers, Gucci sunglasses and Forever New Harmony cross-body handbag.
How would you describe your signature style?
My signature style is feminine, floaty and fun. I love dresses and skirts, but often dress them down with a crisp white sneaker or denim jacket.
Why did you choose this outfit for NZ Fashion Week?
I chose this outfit because the colour of the skirt is absolutely dreamy, and I was inspired by the gorgeous pastels showcased at NZFW for spring. I love it paired with the knit and sneakers for a casual but chic look.
Maxine wears:
Anine Bing t-shirt, Lioness blazer, Forever New Bobbie satin slip skirt, Adidas Continental sneakers, Gucci sunglasses, Forever New Harmony cross-body bag and Forever New rose gold hoop earrings.
How would you describe your signature style?
My signature style is super basic and easy going. I’ve always felt my best when I’m comfortable, so I always make sure that whatever occasion, I feel good in what I’m wearing. I’m a sucker for a graphic tee and a pair of good high waist jeans, plus give me a faux fur bomber or a leather jacket to complete the look and I’m sold.
Why did you choose this outfit for NZ Fashion Week?
I chose to mix and match pieces from my wardrobe with the new addition of the silky skirt, which is an affordable and on-trend piece. The blazer brings the outfit together so it’s not too casual and the accessories add a little extra bit of life to this look.
Lisa wears:
Forever New Tessa puff sleeve midi dress, Nine West shoes, La Tribe earrings and Saben handbag.
How would you describe your signature style?
I don’t really have a signature style per se as I love dresses one day and then jeans and a blazer the next. But whatever I wear, I do strive for a polished look given I am often meeting with clients and representing the Miss FQ brand.
Why did you choose this outfit for NZ Fashion Week?
During fashion week, I am usually dashing around town and ducking between shows and meetings so I need to be dressy enough for my meetings but also comfortable enough to get through the day! I really loved the vintage vibe of this print on this dress and the sleeve and back details give it more of a 2019 edge.
Gemma wears:
Maje shirt, vintage jeans, Forever New backpack and Forever New hairclip.
How would you describe your signature style?
My signature style is classic/smart casual – I normally always opt for a white shirt or blouse, blazer and black pants paired with sneakers.
Why did you choose this outfit for NZ Fashion Week?
I chose this outfit for NZ Fashion Week for its practicality and comfort. I’m all about wearing what makes me feel comfortable (and also easy to walk around in!).
Kelly wears:
Levi’s jeans, Forever New Brandi high-necked ribbed top, Zara boots, Burberry trenchcoat, Danse Lente handbag, Preen sunglasses and Forever New gold earrings.
How would you describe your signature style?
My signature style is usually pretty classic – I like basics in neutral or plain colours, I do typically live in jeans and I tend to invest a bit more into my accessories and ‘forever’ items!
Why did you choose this outfit for NZ Fashion Week?
Jeans are my security blanket and I loved the 90s vibe this Forever New cream high-neck top gives (it’s a little bit of a Rachel from Friends!). Auckland weather is so up and down, particularly during fashion week, so I don’t go anywhere in August or September without my fail-safe Burberry trench.
