Alarmingly, it’s more common than you think.
Come Friday (and backed up again on Saturday) night, we’re beginning to see young 18-22 year old women who have ‘student’ as their job occupation enjoying an endless supply of espresso martinis, while wearing brand new, triple-digit-priced items of clothing. Look to the side and on their arm is the 40+-year-old male who makes the magic happen… literally. Is it just me, or is there something wrong here?
The life of a student is a confusing one. Students have a knack for thinking their lives are tough, but their parents just laugh and tell them it’s only the beginning; it’s all about enjoying the ‘best years of your life’, the partying, the sleep ins, the living and the learning. However, one of the key aspects of student life is the unavoidable, burning hole of debt in their bank accounts that is piling up with each semester that goes by… and we get it, it ain’t easy.
The problem is that many are now searching for a loop hole, especially as the pressure to present the perfect life on social media mounts. So what do they look for? The ultimate student life hack: the unethical disturbance that is, indeed, the sugar daddy.
What exactly is so wrong with it, some may ask? Honey, you’re literally using someone for their money! That is not how your mother raised you.
The whole point of going to university is to create options for yourself while working hard to prepare for your future career and building yourself up to be the best person you can possibly be. To me, doing things the hard way forces you to learn important lessons that will help you in both your future career and personal life, so why cut corners? It’s just going to make life much more difficult later on.
I think it’s important to learn the hard lessons when you’re young, endure the lifestyle of having zero disposable income so that you can maintain the motivation to work hard and achieve not only an incredible career and personal life with impeccable ethics, but to actually enjoy it, too. Trust me, you’ll be better for it.
