NZFW is back after a three-year hiatus and Fashion Quarterly is your all-access pass, bringing you exclusive backstage content, the very best street style, interviews with top fashion designers and models, runway reviews and beauty breakdowns.
What’s your role at Fashion Quarterly?
I’m Editor-in-chief.
What will your focus be at NZFW?
I will be watching what trends are emerging from the designers we all know and love, plus be looking out for all the new up and comers.
When did you attend your first NZFW and what’s your standout memory from it?
I can’t remember exactly when it was, but when I was an editorial assistant at Sunday Magazine I somehow got a ticket to one of Kathryn Wilson’s shows. I remember going, and standing at the back craning my neck to see anything… and thinking this is the best thing I’ve ever seen.
What has been your favourite NZFW show/collection to date?
There are seriously too many to name. I always love going to strange locations – like in 2015 I remember we were in an emptied car park near K Road to see a new collection.
What show(s) are you most looking forward to this year?
We’ve just published a story about Rory Docherty – and his clothes have been shot in a few shoots recently so I’m really looking forward to seeing him. But of course I’m looking forward to seeing the more well-known names like Juliette Hogan, Kate Sylvester, Kathryn Wilson, Zambesi – honestly I can’t wait to see it all!
What kind of trends or themes are you hoping to see on the runway this year?
Honestly, I’d like to be surprised.
What’s your key to making the week go smoothly?
Planning! Well, that and childcare! But I’m confident it will go well as our team has got a good plan in order so it’s just about executing it.
What’s your NZFW style?
My NZFW style is just like my normal style – I love a mini at the moment and always a blazer or coat.
