What’s your role at Fashion Quarterly?
I’m the features director across the home and fashion titles at Bauer, which basically means, I write a lot!

What will your focus be at NZFW?
This year I’m creating a Front Row Diary each day to give readers my take on the most exciting things I saw, people I talked to, delicious food I ate (hopefully I’ll have time to eat!) and my favourite moments from the NZFW runway.

When did you attend your first NZFW and what’s your standout memory from it?
About 12 years ago I was a VIP minder at NZFW for a writer from Vogue Taiwan, which involved me following her around all week, making sure she knew where to be at what time, and holding all her goodie bags for her while she sat front row. I just remember being so happy to be in the thick of it all and occasionally I’d get to stand at the back in the GA section and actually watch the shows. At the end of the week, she gave me all the gifted makeup and bits and pieces that she couldn’t take back on the plane with her and I couldn’t believe my luck.

What for you has been the ultimate NZFW show/collection?
Two really stand out for me: Kate Sylvester’s Electric Dreams show from NZFW 2017 and Harman Grubisa’s Rococo from 2016. I just love watching shows with really wearable pieces that I can picture in my wardrobe. If only I had deeper pockets to be able to buy everything I wanted!

What show(s) are you most looking forward to this year?
Twenty-seven Names and Rachel Mills for the reason above. And Kathryn Wilson, because she always puts on such a fun and colourful show.

What trends are you hoping to see in the AW18 collections?
Beautiful coats are always something I look forward to about winter collections. I also love taking note of new and exciting ways to accessorise or wear things in a slightly out-of-the-box manner. So I’ll be paying close attention to the styling, for sure.

What’s something that people don’t know about attending NZFW?
That many of us there are actually working – not just socialising! There’s time for chit chat and bubbles too, don’t get me wrong, but our main priority is creating content and making sure we’re getting our sh*t done.

What’s your key to surviving the week?
Packing snacks! And a reusable water bottle. If you’ve got food and water, you can do anything.

What ensembles will we be seeing you in/what’s your NZFW style?
I am a super casual dresser 90% of the time, so you will not see me teetering about in stilettos all day, I can promise you that. One day I might do a floaty dress and sneakers, and the next it could be jeans, boots and a plain white tee. I never want to feel uncomfortable, or not “me”, so I tend to stick with my style rather than trying too hard to dress a certain way because it’s fashion week.

What song will have you chair dancing like no other?
Anything from the early 2000s – what a time!
