Marle’s Spring 2021 collection You Got Mine is an elegant continuation of the brand’s commitment to ranges crafted entirely from natural fibres—from Oeko-tex certified sand-washed silk to plant-derived Ramie.
To mark the launch, co-founder and creative director Juliet Souter has collaborated with award-winning director Stacy Lee on a short film that celebrates nature in all its windswept glory. Shot in Mangawhai amongst the sweeping sand dunes just north of Te Arai Beach, the brand’s signature floaty linen dresses feel right at home.
“We were so fortunate to be granted access by the local iwi, Ngātiwai, to these iconic sand dunes—a location we literally had to get to via boat and then a long traipse with cameras, crew and clothing up and over a sand mountain. It was a trek, but well worth it to see the collection come to life within this incredible Salvador Dali-esque backdrop,” says Lee.
A surrealist interior landscape of dunes is interwoven as the film goes on, spotlighting the collection’s luxurious ribbed knits and dresses. All with that undeniable holiday mood that devotees have come to know and love from the Mount Maunganui-based label.
“You Got Mine is a collection made up of contrasts—textured knits meet delicate and feminine silhouettes, and exaggerated twists & details bring classic cuts into a new realm. Using two very different landscapes allowed us to show the duality of our brand and the fact that no one woman wears Marle the same way,” explains Souter.
Featuring an earthy colour palette of natural hues, the pieces in the collection are crafted from certified organic cotton, Oeko-tex certified cashmere and merino, natural linen, hand-washed silk, Tencel, and the plant-derived Ramie. The one-shouldered ‘Howie’ top and ‘William’ dress have us dreaming of a seaside escape to the ocean pronto.
You Got Mine is available for pre-order online at marle.co.nz from August 26th.
