Louis Vuitton and UNICEF collab for the first #MakeAPromise day
French fashion house Louis Vuitton held a special event across 460 of its stores yesterday to raise funds and awareness for children in desperate and urgent situations.
“Nearly 250 million children live in countries affected by conflict and millions more face risks from natural hazards and fast spreading epidemics. Every day, somewhere around the world, a child wakes up to a life filled with violence, persecution and hardship. Louis Vuitton renews its promise to bring hope for a better life to these children with the launch of #makeapromise day.”
Since January 2016, the Louis Vuitton for UNICEF partnership has helped raise $2.5m to help bring children life-saving humanitarian support in Syria.
Inspiration for the initiative comes from the special promise children make when they link pinkies with someone they love. The awareness raising campaign asked people to make ‘pinky promises’ with loved ones and then to post the images online with the #MakeAPromise.

In honour of the project, Louis Vuitton has created the unique Silver Lockit – a necklace and bracelet featuring a tiny monogramed silver padlock. The symbol represents protection, and was first used in the 1890s by Vuitton clients to protect their most valuable and precious possessions.
The brand has pledged a donation of $300 to UNICEF from each sale. Contact 0800 586 966 or visit Louis Vuitton.
