There’s a new super-affordable lash serum in town you’d be crazy not to try

Mascara, falsies and eyelash extensions are a common quick fix to achieve luscious, full eyelashes. But this short term gain is often offset by some long term pain leaving your lashes sparse and damaged.

We’ve been around the block a few times to know that eyelash serums are capable of delivering impressive results. But on the whole, their price point can quite often make them a risky (and expensive) exercise. Not to mention, brands are generally pretty blasé about their ingredients.

When cosmetics giant L’Oreal Paris entered the eyelash serum space, we were quick to bat our eyelashes, until we saw their #LOREALLASHCHALLENGE populate our newsfeeds – a social media-led campaign urging users to post their before and after photos after using the serum for eight weeks.

Formulated to strengthen, repair and nourish your lashes, the L’Oreal Paris Clinically Proven Lash Serum has a complex of castor oil, vitamin B5, amino acids, Hyaluronic acid, Madecassoside and Filoxane for maximum lash-loving goodness while promoting healthy growth.

And – here’s the part that floored us – it’s only RRP $29.99. Talk about accessible; that’s around half the price leading lash serums currently on the market.

How does the L’Oreal Paris Clinically Proven Lash Serum work?

Application: Serums are applied like a liquid liner (but transparent) along the lash line to cleansed, dry skin and can be done virtually in seconds before you add your evening moisturiser before bed, or prior to applying your makeup in the morning. It’s a simple step you can introduce into your beauty regime like you do brushing your teeth. Twice daily. Morning and night. Too easy.

The numbers: When applied twice daily to the lash line over an 8-week period, of those in L’Oreal Paris’ clinical trials 97% saw less lash loss* **, 94% of users found their lashes looked more fortified*, 81% agreed their lash fringe looked fuller*.

How does it affect your natural lash growth? With less lash fall out, more lashes are able to reach their potential in the growth phase of their cycle (lashes will grow for around 30 days of the up to 4 month cycle!), and by being more fortified, are able to stay through their up to 3 month dormant stage, giving a fuller lash line!

Self assessment from cosmetoclinic, 32 women, 4 weeks of application 2x/day **during makeup removal”

Making naturally full, luscious eyelashes part of your lifestyle is easier than you think

Once you learn to give each lid a serum sweep twice daily when you’re brushing your teeth, (say it with us: “look after your teeth, look after your lashes”) this routine habit will be fuelling your lashes with the goods to grow, baby grow… But there are other lifestyle factors you can address to optimise your eyelash growth worthy of noting.

Sleep with silk: Silk pillowcases aren’t just an interior trend. Just as cotton pillowslips cause friction on your skin and hair as you toss and turn, your eyelashes are also a target for rough and tumble. By switching to silk pillowslips, your lashes are subject to a far more smooth surface thus reducing lash breakage and lash loss.

Food for follicles: Superfoods for super strong lashes. Take a leaf out of the millennials’ books and load your diet up with avocados and nuts. Rich in B vitamin biotin and omega 3 fatty acids, respectively, these nutrients will help promote hair growth and healthy hair follicles.

L’Oreal Paris Clinically Proven Lash Serum is available nationwide from L’Oreal Paris stockists, including Farmers and leading pharmacies.
