L'Oreal Colour Trophy

Rebecca Brent from Willis York Salon in Wellington has cut, coloured and styled her way to become New Zealand Hairdresser of the Year after winning the Supreme Award at the L’Oreal Colour Trophy 2014 over the weekend.

Brent’s technique and colour execution impressed the three top international stylists on the judging panel, who selected her over seven other Supreme Award finalists.

“In a competition of this nature it’s important to see colour – and my eye was always drawn back to the colour execution of Rebecca’s look,” Head judge Brad Ngata said.

Brent will now fly to Paris to visit the L’Oreal Professionnel Headquarters and attend the L’Oreal Colour Trophy UK 2014/15.

The Young Colourist of the Year Award, which recognises stylists with five or less years of experience, went to Valeria Lenskaia from Bettjemans in Auckland, while the Men’s Image Award went to Sara Carswell from Blaze in Auckland.

Blaze also took out the award for Salon of the Year.

Now in its 20th year, the L’Oreal Colour Trophy attracts more than 300 entrants from across New Zealand who are judged on their creativity, innovation and technique.
