Turet Knuefermann has been announced as the ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents’ designer for New Zealand Fashion Week 2018.
With hopes of making women feel empowered, confident and comfortable, the German-born, New Zealand-raised Knuefermann will be opening New Zealand Fashion Week with a collection that she describes as “glamorous, aspirational and playful”.
Having launched 13 years ago, Knuefermann has been revered for her timeless, elegant and sexy aesthetic, always with a focus on quality – a trait that has piqued the interest of luxury automotive brand Mercedes-Benz, who tapped her for this year’s coveted accolade.
“I am humbled and honoured to partner with Mercedes-Benz. I have always respected the brand’s commitment to fashion, and admire the opportunities it provides New Zealand designers to celebrate and share their passion and creativity with the world,” the designer says.
“Taking part in Fashion Week is a highlight for any designer, but to have the opening show allows a lot more freedom and is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
The ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents’ accolade is a global initiative which recognises and celebrates designers who are dedicated to the use of high-quality materials, innovative design and unique style. Knuefermann joins an esteemed list of previous global recipients including Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Camilla and Marc and Dion Lee. Previous New Zealand recipients include Dame Trelise Cooper, Kate Sylvester, Harman Grubiša and Zambesi.
Knuefermann will open New Zealand Fashion Week this year on 27 August 2018.
