Some moments are made to be savoured — the first warm night of summer, a table set beneath soft pink blooms, and a cocktail that feels perfectly suited to the season. This year, that honour belongs to the Roku Hanami Fizz — a bright, floral serve that captures the spirit of Japan in every sip.
To mark the arrival of warmer days, FQ and Roku Gin gathered a chic cohort of guests for an evening framed by sakura-inspired décor, soft lighting, and the gentle hum of conversation. Glasses were filled with the Hanami Fizz, its pale pink hue complemented by subtle floral aromas, inviting us to pause, relax, and enjoy the moment.
Made with Roku Sakura Bloom Edition, muddled raspberries, fresh ginger, and a splash of lemonade, the cocktail reflected the spirit of the evening. Each pour released the delicate floral aroma of sakura, perfectly complementing the crisp, lightly fruity notes of the cocktail.
Roku — Japanese for ‘six’ — is The House of Suntory’s meticulously crafted gin, distilled from six signature botanicals: sakura blossom, sakura leaf, sencha tea, gyokuro tea, sanshō pepper, and yuzu peel. Each ingredient is harvested at its peak according to shun, the Japanese tradition of enjoying elements in their perfect season. The Sakura Bloom Edition carries that same philosophy, highlighting the gentle sweetness of cherry blossom with just a hint of salt from the leaves. The result is a gin that’s balanced, layered, and effortlessly refined – much like the culture that inspired it.
As the evening continued, the Hanami Fizz became a central part of the experience, enjoyed by guests throughout the night. Its light, refreshing flavours complemented the surroundings, making it a drink to linger over, savour, and share.
This season, take a cue from Roku: raise a glass to seasonal flavours and the pleasure of enjoying a moment — and a stunning cocktail — with good company.
