If there was one accessory to be sighted with at the FQ Fashion Awards, it was the Belvedere Vodka Martini on entry (accompanied by a caviar bump and a coat check, of course!).

For our inaugural FQ Fashion Awards, Morningside’s Glasshouse venue became the city’s epicentre of fashion’s elite, as our community gathered in black tie attire to celebrate the collective achievements of Aotearoa’s fashion industry. A metallic chrome runway spanned the length of the glasshouse while dazzling seed lights woven through the magnolia trees reflected off the glass ceilings. Outside, the temperature was cool with a scattering of light rain, our guests desperate to get inside. Just through the entrance, a haven constructed from mirrors formed the backdrop for Belvedere Vodka’s coat check and caviar station where our VIPs shed their outerwear to reveal their finest threads. Once their cloaks were safely stowed, waiters presented Belvedere Vodka Martinis and world-class caviar by CAVIARMAFIA on a silver platter ready to be spooned or bumped. The time to celebrate has arrived.

The space soon filled, humming with conversation and the enigmatic tunes from the DJ booth. Numerous photographers waded through the crowd snapping guests with covetable style. There were New Zealand designers sighted on guests – both current and archived pieces – and mesmerising combinations worth saving for later. But it was clear which accessory you wouldn’t want to be seen without: a Belvedere Vodka Martini in hand.

For the very first FQ Fashion Awards, it was essential that we partnered with a luxury beverage manufacturer befitting of the glamorous party scene in which it would be served. You don’t have to look far to learn of Belvedere’s premium Polish origins, made with 600-year old traditions. The proof is on your palette. But what you may not know is that it’s backed by a series of ‘firsts’ itself. It was the first Polish vodka to break into the New York club scene and it was the first brand to launch a premium organic vodka (available in New Zealand very soon). With its distinct character and ability to turn heads, there was no substitute as far as we were concerned.

Its popularity as the winter cocktail du jour among our guests was unanimous. So, we thought we’d secure the recipe so you can recreate the magic at home for your next elegant night in.

Recipe: Belvedere Vodka Martini

  • 7.5 ml / 0.25 oz Dry Vermouth
  • Cubed ice
  • Grapefruit twist for garnish

How to make it:

Add all ingredients to mixing glass over cubed ice.
Stir for 15/20 seconds to chill and dilute.
