In the third instalment of Girl Talk, our video series where we sit down and get real with girls about all aspects of their life, we talk to model, influencer and all-round GB, Jess Quinn.
To give you a bit of background, Jess (a longtime friend of Miss FQ and a girl we definitely think you need to know) broke her leg at age 9 which led to discovery that she had bone cancer, and ultimately, her leg was amputated at the knee.
Rather than let this hold her back, Jess shifted her focus (one of her favourite life philosophies) and instead, she tuned into everything she *could* do—or wanted to work towards doing—and started smashing some pretty lofty goals.
This super-inspiring story has led to a loyal following of more than 160,000 followers on Instagram, and Jess has even been picking up international recognition, after features on her were published on the Daily Mail and Huffington Post, among others.
Jess recently signed with modelling agency Natural Models in Los Angeles, and hopes to continue to challenge body diversity stereotypes both locally and abroad. She has also been partnering with brands, such as Clinique and Les Mills, to promote her messages of fitspo, wellness and the importance of looking after your body and skin, both inside and out.
Miss FQ digital content producer Terri Dunn sat down with Jess in her Auckland home to chat through the highlights and challenges of the last year and to pick her brain about fitness, wellness, motivation and beauty.
P.S. If you’re interested in the CliniqueFIT makeup range Jess talks about in the video, it’s available now exclusively from farmers.co.nz, and from selected Farmers stores, Smith & Caughey’s Queen Street, David Jones Wellington and Ballantynes.
