The sisters speak out
Staying at the top of your game is tough, and if modelling is your game, well that’s even tougher!
The pressure to look – and feel – as good as you can every single day is intense, so how do famous modelling sisters Bella and Gigi manage the mental health side of what can only be described as a crazy business?
Both have health issues which they’ve spoken about quite openly. Bella has suffered with Lyme Disease which causes symptoms similar to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Gigi recently revealed she’s been battling Hashimoto’s disease – a thyroid condition that affects her immune system.

While managing their health is always top priority, the girls have spoken out about how important it is for them to managing their emotional wellbeing, too.
In a candid interview with The Telegraph, Bella revealed how difficult it was for her to cut short a burgeoning equestrian career: “It was really emotional for me. I thought I was going to ride horses for the rest of my life. But everything happens for a reason, that’s my motto now, and I’m so happy to be where I am.”
To cope with the demands of her modelling career, Bella said she takes “a lot of shots every day, and vitamins, biotics, stuff like that, but it takes its toll.”

While taking medication helps, she confessed that at the end of shows she feels exhausted. Despite everything though, she said she makes a point of looking back at the end of the day and feeling “proud” of what she’s achieved.
Gigi admits she keeps herself grounded by taking some time out from her 11 million social media followers.
“Once a month 1 go for a few days and detox [from Instagram]. You look up and see the world around you, instead of just staring at your phone all day.”
If you’re struggling with your mental health, remember you’re not alone. Even celebs like Kendall Jenner have admitted anxiety has been a problem for her and she’s shared on how new coping skills made a difference.
