Kim Kardashian West at the Vogue 100 Festival

This just in! Kim Kardashian-West, the queen of contouring, has decided this OTT makeup style is so yesterday – revealing that nontouring is her new beauty look du jour.

The reality TV star revealed her new less is more look at Vogue Festival over the weekend, explaining: “I think right now it’s more about nontouring, like real skin with less makeup on it. I’m trying to wear less… and my husband loves me without makeup.

“Now when I travel, I just bring a small makeup case and I’m content with that. I’m really into strobing now, so just highlighting the skin without using bronzer. I love contouring and I don’t think I’d stop contouring my nose – I know people think I’ve had a nose job but it really is just makeup!”

Strobing is nothing new, but we love that Kim has decided to embrace a more natural beauty look – one that’s much easier to recreate without the help of a professional makeup artist.

However, it always pays to get tips from the pros when it comes to product play. So we quizzed Amy Conway, Bobbi Brown Pro Artist for the UK and Ireland, on how to strobe for your skin type.

“Above all for strobing my favourite product is Bobbi Brown Illuminating Balm,” she explains. “It’s a really quick easy product that will instantly lift the whole face. It has these very soft iridescent pearls, so you get a skin tone correct glow at the same time. When you use shimmer compacts on the skin they can often have a lot of gold and silver and that can almost be too harsh, but the difference with strobing is it looks like a watery glow. There’s no shimmer to it, it just looks like you’ve had a big glass of water or a good night’s sleep – it looks really hydrated.”

The same product can be used, whether you have a dry or oily skin type – but it’s all about how you apply it.

For normal to dry skin, Amy recommends applying all over the face underneath your makeup, to give a lift and lit-from-within look to the skin. Once you’ve finished your makeup, apply a powder highlighter to any points that may need some extra glow.

“For normal to oily skin, it’s still really important to strobe but in the right way so that it doesn’t look like you’re sweating,” she says. “The key is brow bone, cheek bones, under the eyes, cupid’s bow, nose and chin. It’s a nice way to pretty much highlight all your features but in the right way.”
