He’s not a household name yet but after debuting his Autumn/Winter ’17 collection at NZFW, Wynn’s certainly on his way. Miss FQ’s digi ed, Skye Ross went along to the young, creative talent’s show and this is what she thought…
- I am so hungry I could eat my own arm. Why haven’t I had lunch yet?
- New designer hype is setting is and I’m the most excited I’ve been all day. I hear his girlfriend Lana is like his muse or something… #OverheardAtNZFW
- I swear I forget to eat every freakin’ year.
- Okay finally the show has started and right away it’s feeding my hunger to own a lady suit. Hunger.. irony.
- I never thought I wanted to wear carpet as clothing until now.
- I really feel like upholstery in autumnal tones is making a comeback.
- I don’t know where it’s ‘coming back’ from but I dig it.
- I don’t think I’ve ever seen a designer make ruffled burgundy knitwear and D-ring belts look so wearable and flattering.
- Erm… who knew curtain ties could be such a chic alternative to a belt?
- Now we’re into A-line denim midi skirts, à la 1970, paired with over-the-knee boots.
- This show is giving me vibes of a Wes Anderson film crossed with Mary Poppins’ luggage. Mainly on Bianca Henry’s high-waist jeans, rouge knitwear and perspex sunglasses combo alone.
- Wherever Wynn’s going on holiday with those rug-ish bags, I want to go with him. He could pack me in that carry-all and I’d be fashionably happy.
- So much yes to the large eyelet-adorned magic carpet coats and vests though!
- Wynn Hamlyn might just be to NZFW 2016, what Harman Grubisa was to 2015.
- It’s early days but this might just end up being my favourite show of the week. Go, Wynn!
