What to wear on a date when you don’t know what to wear

9 February 2018

It takes just one-tenth of a second for us to judge someone and make a first impression.

That’s a fact. And we’re all guilty of it. Which is why when the spotlight is turned onto us in say, a first date situation, we place an immense amount of pressure on ourselves in terms of our presentation.

The function of what we wear goes beyond just fit-for-purpose. Suddenly it’s all about needing to tell whomever you’re making a first impression on about who you are, what you’re into, and what your unique proposition is, all while remaining attractive, desirable and approachable. It’s a big ask.

And if you’re in a relationship…

Perhaps an even bigger ask, is to dress for a date with someone who you’ve been seeing or committed to for a length of time. Someone who’s already seen you at your worst or has become conditioned to you on a day-to-day basis.

Now we’re not suggesting that everyone feels taken for granted in their relationship. Far from it. However, with relationships, sometimes you want to drop a few reminders to your significant other of their good fate to be with you. On a first date, failing to inspire a reaction out of your partner can be dismissed as “well, they weren’t the right one for me”. But when you’re in a relationship, this can be a right kick in the gut, especially if you’ve put the effort in.

So we’re here to avoid that from happening with a gallery of endearing outfits that will guarantee self-confidence in any date situation and for any relationship status.
