What they wore: Royal christening style roundup

Women around the world have been taking style cues from Kate Middleton from the very first moment she came into the spotlight, but no occasion is more awe-inspiring than a royal event and Princess Charlotte’s christening over the weekend was no exception.

The christening was performed by the Archbishop of Canterbury at St. Mary Magdalene church in Sandringham, Norfolk – the same church where Princess Diana was christened. Famed photographer Mario Testino was on hand to capture the official family portraits as well as enviable fashion moments from Kate Middleton, Queen Elizabeth II, Carole Middleton, Pippa Middleton and of course, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Princess Charlotte was dressed in a custom Honiton lace and white satin gown designed by the Queen’s dressmaker, Andrea Kelly. It is a replica of the 174-year-old gown worn to royal christenings for generations, including that of her brother Prince George.

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall wears a light blue long-sleeved dress with a matching wide-brimmed hat and nude accessories while Kate’s mother Carole Middleton wears a cream-coloured coat with grey embroidery with a matching fascinator.

Prince George payed an homage to his father wearing a Rachel Riley white smocked top and bright red shorts, similar to the outfit worn by Prince William when he met his younger brother for the first time in September 1984.
