Cara Delevingne has outranked Marilyn Monroe as the top ‘beauty icon’ of the last century.
The top 10 list, which pushed the 1950s movie star into second place, polled 1,000 Brits aged between 18 and 65 on their top three beauties.
Those polled were also asked what they considered the most striking features of celebrities they had chosen. Delevingne, famed for her bushy brows, came back in the number one position.
The poll, run by cosmetics brand NKDb, found that 66 per cent of those questioned said makeup helped celebrities – and everyone else – “stand out from the crowd” with 48 per cent saying makeup “enhanced their natural beauty”.
Modern day style icons Cara, Gwen Stefani and Kim Kardashian sit alongside classic beauties such as Elizabeth Taylor, Twiggy and Audrey Hepburn in the list.

NKDb co-founder Marco Robinson told The Mirror: “It’s great to see a mixture of current celebrities and icons from decades gone by in the top 10, proving that women find inspiration from numerous avenues.”
Lisa Dodds, also a co-founder of the cosmetics company, said: “It’s fascinating to see from the results of our latest survey which beauty looks from the past century the British public deem to be the most memorable and iconic.
“All the looks highlighted have a unique twist to them which has meant that they remain front of mind with the British public.”
