Copenhagen Fashion Week street style for August 2019

Crush-worthy street style looks from Copenhagen Fashion Week

13 August 2019

Forget what you thought you knew about Scandinavian fashion – it’s not just minimalism and knitwear.

Copenhagen Fashion Week has just wrapped and it provided the perfect showcase of Scandi-style 2.0 plus plenty of outfit inspiration for those of us with winter-induced wardrobe fatigue – think oversized tailoring, soft pastels, neon brights, romantic volume and prints galore.

The latter two can be traced to the influence of sought-after Danish fashion brands Cecilie Bahnsen and Ganni.

If you’ve ever wondered where those cloud-like white dresses on your Instagram ‘Explore’ page came from, the answer is probably Cecilie Bahnsen. Known for her voluminous proportions, delicate rouleau ties and sweet fabrics, Bahnsen’s nostalgic collections have struck a chord with anyone seeking a romantic reprieve from athleisure’s dominance (and all the bad world news on our feeds).

Similarly, super-stylish #GanniGirls have been unavoidable (and who would want to anyway?) thanks to the brand’s signature bright prints, clean silhouettes and ever-so-kitsch detailing. Ganni brings a refreshing sensibility to contemporary dressing, advocating a try-anything approach that still harnesses that effortless Scandinavian style.

All this has us contemplating our own spring wardrobes, equally entranced by Copenhagen’s abundance of prints as we are by the refined yet slouchy suiting on offer. We’ve put together some crush-worthy looks to get you started.
