Tiffany & Co opens first New Zealand boutique

Tiffany & Co has FINALLY reached our shores!

The luxury jeweller opened the doors to their first boutique in New Zealand today – and it looks seriously good.

Located in Auckland’s Britomart shopping precinct, the 430 square metre store is a jewellery-lover’s dream. You’ll find leather gloved staff ready to greet you in the grand entrance room, in which hangs a hand-leafed chandelier by New York-based artist, Michelle Oka Doner. A portrait of Audrey Hepburn of Breakfast at Tiffany’s fame hangs on the wall and, we imagine, will look approvingly over you as you browse cabinet-upon-cabinet of gasp-worthy jewels.

The store occupies the entire ground floor of Australis House, at 33 Galway Street, and features three salons: one for “fine” jewellery (including diamond engagement rings); one for fashion jewellery; and one for watches. There is a private room for customers to try on jewellery at their leisure – the room is based on a New York apartment and features couches in the trademark Tiffany blue.

Incorporating the building’s heritage listed status within the design was important to the brand and the Tiffany head office in New York was heavily invested in ensuring both the design and location were perfect.

Marketing director Michaela Langley told The New Zealand Herald they called the New Zealand store the “mini New York flagship” with details such as the replica Atlas clock over the entrance way mirroring the one installed at the 5th Avenue store in 1878.

An opening celebration is to follow on November 10.
