This is a home Samantha Jones would definitely approve of.
Kim Cattrall may have made her name playing the sultry Samantha Jones in Sex And The City, but the actress’s upmarket Manhattan apartment shows she’s all class.
In her interview with Architectural Digest Cattrall revealed her fab pad was actually her first mature home, and said she was almost 50 before signing on the line for her prestigious Park Avenue home.
“It’s not that I lived in dumps. It just was never a priority,” she says.
When SATC ended in 2003, she re-evaluated her life, and set out to re-design her spacious, although somewhat dated, two-bedroom apartment.
Working with friend and Manhattan-based interior designer Tony Ingrao, Cattrall slowly began to transform her heritage home from its 1970s state to its current sophisticated style.
“The inspiration was old Hollywood glamour,” says Ingrao. “A little bit of fantasy with soft, frosty colours and an overall elegant feel.”
Flea market finds trawled from the pair’s visits to Paris, Italy and Austria brought warmth and history into the space, while modern art pieces, such as the large nude by artist Natasha Law (Jude Law’s sister), add a brilliant contemporary touch.
The interior also reflects Cattrall’s softer side, with her bedroom decorated in glorious shades of rose pink.
But the standout room is an unconventional monkey-themed workspace. The inspiration behind the décor decision, she said, is a nod to her and Ingrao’s shared Chinese birth year.
“To look at these beautiful things in my home and realise they reflect, in a positive way, where I am and what I’ve accomplished, and have been able to create alongside someone as talented as Tony. What a gift to give myself.”
