Inside Cameron Diaz's New York Apartment

See inside Cameron Diaz’s $6.5 million New York apartment

The Hollywood actress listed her property on the market this week.

Cameron Diaz’s stunning Kelly Wearstler-designed New York apartment has been put up for sale – and it could be yours if you have a cool US$4.5 million (NZ$6.5 million) to spare.

The two bedroom home – which Diaz once described as her “jewel box” – is located in the highly desirable Greenwich Village neighbourhood and was bought by Diaz in 2008 for US$2.95 million according to public records.  Diaz enlisted West Coast interior designer Wearstler two years later to help her renovate. The result is a colourful and luxurious space that Wearstler described as “innately sexy without being overly flashy.”

The emerald green kitchen with a burnished brass finish is a particular standout, while the living room, master suite and guest bedroom come complete with handmade artisan wallpaper and hand-stencilled ceilings. No wonder Elle Décor ran a full feature on the completed renovation project.

As would be expected from a Hollywood-style revamp, all rooms have electronic black-out shades and touch control lighting. But in keeping with the prewar shell, the original oak floors were maintained and treated with ebony stain and then cerused. No detail has been forgotten – right down to the black silk-lined drawers and the custom wallpaper covering the interior of all closets.

If the lucky buyer so wishes, they can also choose to purchase the existing furnishings and lighting  – for an additional price, but of course.
