After two years on the market, the iconic fashion designer has sold his sprawling Spanish-style mansion in Miami.

Fashion and design icon Calvin Klein has sold his sprawling Spanish Colonial mega-mansion in Miami for a cool US $12.85 million (NZD $18.22 million). Klein originally listed it two years ago for US$16 million.

Behind the white stucco exterior and terracotta roof, reminiscent of traditional Spanish Colonial architecture, the chic minimalist mansion boasts five bedrooms, five bathrooms, flowing open-plan living spaces and an infinity pool with views across Biscayne Bay.

The warm, rustic feel of the Spanish Colonial design is carried throughout the expansive home, with antique timber floorboards, exposed timber beams, polished concrete floors and a Mediterranean-inspired private central courtyard, perfect for entertaining or relaxing.

Carefully curated high-end furnishings, including stunning antique pieces, selected by world-renowned interior designer Axel Vervoordt, were also included in the sale.

Klein, who purchased the waterfront property in July 2004 for US$5.75 million, is no stranger to multi-million-dollar properties with a reported portfolio which includes a US$14 million penthouse in Manhattan, a property in the Hamptons and a US$25 million house in the Hollywood Hills.

It has been revealed the buyer of the luxurious Miami home is Millard Drexler, who is the CEO of fashion label J. Crew.
