Chanel SS16

Runway: Chanel SS16 at Paris Fashion Week (+video)

8 October 2015

If there’s one thing we know about a Chanel show, it’s to expect a spectacle.

And after Chanel supermarkets, casinos and brasseries, it was time to turn Paris’ Grand Palais into an airport fit for Chanel Airlines.

Karl Lagerfeld’s imagined Aeroport Paris Cambon had a departures board at gate No 5 listing flights to Shanghai, Dallas and Seoul (the destinations of recent resort showings) while uniformed Chanel Airlines staff handed out show notes from behind the check-in desks. Karl’s favourites (including Cara Delevingne, Eva Chen and Carine Roitfeld) had prime seating in the ‘departures lounge’ and models trundled past on their way to exotic locations wheeling the most glamorous quilted luggage with weekender-sized classic flap bags.

Now that we’ve seen what it would be like to fly Chanel Airlines (no queues! broad-shouldered luggage handlers!) it’s the only way we want to travel from now on.
