Purple reigns at the Billboard Music Awards

24 May 2016

There was one colour to rule them all at this year’s 2016 Billboard Music Awards.

Well, kinda. Purple popped up repeatedly throughout the evening (that includes the fuchsia-toned carpet), in honour of late music legend Prince. However, it wasn’t the only colour trending – cobalt blue, silver and black (always black!) cropped up plenty too.

The awards had thrills (Britney’s 10 minute medley of her greatest hits) and spills (Madonna’s performance, dedicated to Prince, which critics described as “flat”). Aside from Brit Brit’s big comeback, The Weeknd was the big winner of the night, Celine Dion was honoured with the Icon Award and Biebs was typically Bieb-ish, performing-slash-lipsyncing “Company/Sorry”.

All in all, an eventful night.
