Party pics: An evening with Kendall Jenner’s makeup artist Victor Henao

When we heard Kendall Jenner’s makeup artist was coming to New Zealand… well, let’s just say there was no way we were going to miss the chance to meet him and pick his brain on all things beauty!

Victor Henao, Estée Lauder’s global director of makeup design, is Kendall’s go-to makeup artist for all her red carpet appearances and every Estée Lauder campaign she fronts. Henao was tapped by the beauty company 18 months ago to come on board – his first task: to beautify its newest star for her debut Estée Lauder campaign. The two became fast friends and Henao is the makeup artist Kendall now turns to for her biggest red carpet moments, including THAT spectacular Met Ball moment in 2015.

At last night’s event, Victor gave us a glimpse into his glamorous world with behind-the-scenes video footage of some of the incredible projects he’s worked on and the celebrities he’s made up. In a Q&A session with Fashion Quarterly‘s editor Sally-Ann Mullin, he answered some of the beauty questions the FQ team and readers have been dying to know, such as: What is Kendall like to work with? What is the next big brow trend? How do I contour my face? And how should I actually be applying my foundation?

Henao also walked us through three different makeup looks, demonstrating his technique on models and throwing in some great little tips and tricks on the way (did you know castor oil applied to eyebrows will help them to grow and thicken?!)
