Claire Danes 2016 Met Gala

OMG the 2016 Met Gala red carpet was next level

3 May 2016

Okay we’re going to say it – the Met Gala is officially our favourite day of the year.

Yes, the Oscars red carpet brings plenty of gasp-worthy gowns, but the Met Gala is where fashion’s finest names toe the line between the fantastical and the downright cray… and we cannot get enough.

This years’ theme – Manus x Machina: Fashion in an age of Technology – was a celebration of all that is ground-breaking and fashion-forward, from technical and sustainable materials to clever futuristic designs.

Standout moments came from Claire Danes in her glowing Zac Posen gown; Emma Watson in her custom Calvin Klein frock, made from 100 percent post-consumer plastic bottles; and Karolina Kurkova’s LED-lit Marchesa dress which was powered by social media sentiment. Yep, the entire event was a veritable treat for the eyes.

Here are all the amazing looks straight from the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s 2016 Costume Institute Gala red carpet – which is your favourite?
