Nike has announced their first ever plus-size range

7 March 2017

“Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and being strong is beautiful”

In amazing news for curvy girls, sportswear giant Nike have announced the launch of its first ever plus-size range.

A spokesperson for the company said: “We’ve offered plus size products for the past decade but the range was not broad enough to cover all consumers. As we continue to listen to the voice of the athlete we will continue to build out the plus size line to offer more premium products and sizes that fit her needs.”

As part of the ground-breaking campaign, they’ve teamed up with influencers Danielle Vanier and Grace Victory to share the news with their followers.

“The motivation in young girls today is to be strong,” said Helen Boucher, Vice President of Women’s Training Apparel. “And while strong looks different for everybody, what’s consistent in athletes today is that fitness is very much a part of her lifestyle.”

“As the number one sports brand for women and girls globally, our motivation is to ensure she has the solutions to achieve her full potential as an athlete. So when we design for her, whether she is elite or an everyday athlete, our goal is to ensure she is equipped for sport.

“Ultimately, beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and being strong is beautiful. Strong is the keyword for us; size doesn’t matter.”

The collection will be a permanent fixture for ongoing seasons, and ranges from size XL to 3XL. While it won’t be coming to NZ Nike stores just yet, it is available online at Nike.com for everyone to access.
