4 April 2019

BONJOUR MADEMOISELLE ROCHAS

Add a splash of French chic from iconic luxury fashion brand Rochas.

Dazzling yet effortless, the most exciting new eau de parfum arrival on fragrance counters is the embodiment of French chic – and we’d expect no less from one of Paris’ original fashion houses.

Perfumer Ann Flipo immersed herself in Maison Rochas, drawing inspiration not only from its fine fabrications and haute construction but the bold femininity the label is known for. The result: a bright, optimistic wear.

What are the fragrance notes of Mademoiselle Rochas?

Top notes:
At first, the tangy sparkle of the red fruit accord (red and black currant, and blackberry) awakens the senses as a reminder of a carefree childhood. The crisp ivy of a French garden offers a tempering contrast. Both fruity green and slightly caramelised red, the toffee apple accord is incredibly addictive.

Middle notes:
At the heart of the fragrance is an explosion of flowers, handfuls of distilled rose petals from the exclusive Rochas fields, a profusion of wonderful Egyptian jasmine, and a violet accord floating in the air. It is the essence of elegance, romance and femininity.

Base notes:
The base notes highlight the character and stability of this subtle composition: creamy and chic sandalwood, soft ambergris accord and wispy and white Chantilly musks evoke the sexy lace so dear to the heart of Monsieur Rochas. A fragrance like a second skin.

Mademoiselle Rochas Eau de Parfum, from $77, is available at Farmers, Smith & Caughey’s, Ballantynes, David Jones and H & J Smith.

About the House of Rochas

Founded by Parisian couturier Marcel Rochas in 1925, the label is known for its elegant but forward-thinking style. Rochas became known for his influential new ideas and silhouettes, pioneering still-relevant designs such as the athleisure-favourite tennis dress, full skirts with pockets and strapless bustier gowns.

The luxury brand has consistently championed a playful and feminine spirit, with a recent history of modern designers including Olivier Theyskens, Marco Zanini and current artistic director Alessandro Dell’Acqua.

Fragrance too, is part of Rochas’ rich heritage. The first offering, Femme in 1943, was a floral chypre scent that went on to exceptional acclaim. Madame Rochas (1960), called on bold white flowers, followed by the fresh L’eau de Rochas (1970) and floral-oriental Tocade (1994), which all made a significant and lasting impression.
