A how-to: Harman Grubisa’s makeup look at #NZFW was goals

23 August 2016

Elegant, opulent, lavish and ornate.

Harman Grubisa’s Rococo collection presented by Mercedes-Benz opened New Zealand Fashion Week last night in opulent, decadent and lavish style. I mean, hello… The runway was gold!

Aside from the impeccably tailored garments in contemporary, feminine silhouettes, the makeup, directed by M•A•C Cosmetics Senior Artist, Kiekie Stanners was just as elegant and ornate.

“The key features with the makeup is really beautiful, perfected creamy skin with a hint of gold reflect, beautiful soft washes of metallic gold over the eyes, and then a liquid metal liner along the top lash line, so it kind of has that feeling of Baroque-like flecks of gold running through the face,” Kiekie told us, describing the look.

These are the key products used, because we know you want to replicate it:

Face: Strobe Cream with Cream Colour Base in Pearl as a base. M•A•C Studio Waterweight SPF 30 Foundation. Cream Colour Base in Tint and Improper Copper to contour.

Eyes: Paint in Bamboom applied to eyelids. Pigment in Tan buffed over lid with Pigment in Rose Gold as a liner over lash line. InstaCurl Lash.

Lips: Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in Ms Diva with Lipstick in Sin. Clear Lipglass. Nails: M•A•C Studio Nail Lacquer in Sour Cherry.

When asked how we can take the look from the runway to real life Kiekie asserted that “the eyes are totally wearable.”

“I think that using a gold liner along the lashline is such a beautiful alternative to a black because it gives you this really great pop of colour that just looks like a piece of metal that is sitting along the top lash line, rather than darkening the lashes. Also the lip is a really dark, super glossy burgundy lip which again is so beautiful by itself, to wear that sort of deep crimson colour tone with a gloss over the top for full impact.”

So there you have it. You might not be able to get your mits on Harman Grubisa’s collection until next year but beauty, on the other hand, holds no one back.
