Beyonce wears Hood by Air in Lemonade

The fiercest fashion from Beyonce’s new visual album ‘Lemonade’

26 April 2016

Unless you spent the long-weekend at a health retreat with a no technology policy, you’ll be aware that Beyoncé’s new visual album Lemonade premiered on Sunday via an hour-long HBO event.

A celebration of ‘black girl magic’, Lemonade sees Queen Bey at her most political, personal and provocative, supported by an all-black, (almost) all-female cast including Serena Williams, Quvenzhané Wallis, Zendaya, Michaela DePrince, Winnie Harlow, Amandla Stenberg, and of course, Jay-Z. Meanwhile, the album’s long list of musical collaborators includes such artists as The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, Jack White, James Blake, Just Blaze, and Diplo.

Initially only available to users of the paid music-streaming service, Tidal, Lemonade was released on iTunes this morning and industry insiders are already projecting another sales record for Beyoncé, whose 2013 album made history after shifting 828,773 copies in its first three days. But although its sophisticated sound also has critics tipping it as a contender for Album of the Year, Lemonade is as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the ears due to the quantity of costume changes Bey undergoes across the album’s 11 tracks.

One fashion designer by the name of Rachel Roy (AKA “Becky with the good hair”) has found herself at the centre of a great deal of post-Lemonade discussion for all the wrong reasons. We, however, are more interested in the designers that got a shout-out for all the right reasons.
