Everything you need to know about Kylie Minogue’s new eyewear range

8 March 2017

Diminutive and girly with a tough edge and just a hint of showgirl.

We’re not actually talking about Kylie Minogue here, although we easily could be. No, we’re talking about the qualities of her new eyewear collection, which debuted in Sydney earlier this week and was introduced to the VIP and media crowd by the pop princess herself.

The pint-sized singer has tried her hand at almost everything over the years – acting in film and TV, writing a series of children’s books and even designing lingerie and homewares ranges. But eyewear is a new avenue for the 48-year-old, and it would appear it is one she has a good, er, eye for.

Working in conjunction with Specsavers, Kylie has designed 25 pairs of glasses and four prescription sunglasses that are feminine, serious yet fun and most definitely fashion-forward. Comprised of three design themes – Modern Classics, Subtle Bling and Reinvented Vintage – many of the styles were inspired by Kylie’s own extensive collection of glasses – she admits she has hundreds of pairs, which she has amassed over 20+ years.

Building up such a vast collection is no mean feat, but Kylie has been a spectacle wearer since her early twenties so has had some time to hone her taste in glasses.

“I’d been experiencing headaches and had difficulty maintaining focus when reading, so I had my eyes tested and I’ve been a specs wearer ever since,” she explained.

The resulting collection has clear Kylie flourishes, such as blush pink accents, subtle bling and an iconic ‘K’ tag. Unsurprisingly, the range also has a petite selection, as the star has sometimes struggled to find glasses that fit.

“At my request, we made sure the collection includes some petite styles. We’ve really made sure there’s something in there for everyone,” she said.

The Kylie Minogue Eyewear collection, exclusive to Specsavers, will be available in stores nationwide from Thursday 9 March. The collection includes 25 glasses and four prescription sunglasses, starting from two pairs from $299.
