Demi Moore sells her New York City penthouse for $60 million

16 June 2017

After more than two years on the market, the actress dropped the asking price of her Manhattan triplex by $30 million.

Demi Moore has finally sold her penthouse apartment in the iconic San Remo building located in Central Park West in NYC for a record-breaking $60 million.

Moore purchased the luxury penthouse with her former husband, actor Bruce Willis, in 1990 for a reported $US7.73 million. After divorcing in 1998, Moore listed the apartment in 2015 for $US75 million which included an additional two-bedroom ground-floor apartment in the same building.

A year later, after no interest was shown in the property, Moore reduced the price to $US59 million and removed the additional apartment from the deal.

Now, after two years on the market, Moore has reached a deal with an unidentified buyer, selling the six-bedroom home for $US45 million. Even at the reduced price, the deal still bought in a tidy profit of $US39 million.

Despite the sizeable price reduction, the $US45 million-dollar sale set a new record for the highest price ever paid for an apartment in the Emery Roth-designed building.

The ‘floating mansion’ as it is described in the listing, is accessible by a private elevator and foyer. Inside, the palatial apartment boasts three separate levels with soaring 16-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling Art Deco style windows that allow for an influx of natural light.

The first level features a main living area, library, dining room, breakfast room and chef’s kitchen. Up a grand staircase on the second level you will find five ensuite bedrooms plus a staff bedroom as well as additional living areas.

The upper level acts as a media room with a projection system and drop-down screen for family entertainment as well as a mezzanine level that offers self-contained guest accommodation with a lofted bedroom, bathroom and private kitchen.

The entertainment room provides access to the wrap around terrace that offers breathtaking views of Central Park and the city.

This kind of prime real estate doesn’t come cheaply for the new owners however who are required to pay a monthly maintenance fee of $19,322 on top of the $45 million price tag.
