For Fashion Quarterly Summer 2015: The Art Issue, we collaborated with artists Andrew J. Steel and Damin Radford-Scott (D-side), the creative duo formerly known as BMD.
Known for their head-turning contemporary art, often featuring cartoon animals and shapes, the pair provided custom-painted sets for the incredible Wet Paint editorial in our Summer issue (you can see the making of the shoot here).
Now working as solo artists, the duo are excited to explore their individual identities and channel energy into their own creative projects.
For Andrew J. Steel, that includes a unique year-long project, producing 12 original collectable artworks – one per month – which he will auction off.
Aside from charity involvement, never before has Steel sold a single piece of collectable work – either as an individual artist or as BMD – so the chance to own one of his original pieces is a rare opportunity, and no doubt one that will draw interest from BMD fans all over the world.
The first artwork, released today, is titled ‘The Divide’ and is about the diversion and end of BMD. This first auction will run for seven days and you can place your bid via a silent auction at andrewjsteel.com/releases.
If you miss out this time, not to worry – each new artwork will appear on Steel’s website on the 1st of every month.
