You don’t have to be heading to a rodeo to jump on this trend’s bandwagon.
Cowboy boots are having a major moment in street style as fashion’s love for all things Americana/nostalgia comes full circle. Passing trend or not, cowboy boots truly possess the hallmarks of an investment item: they’re infinitely versatile, always come back into fashion (even if you have to wait eight years or so) and are a classic piece open for interpretation based on the wearer’s unique sense of style.
As I started researching for this piece and pinning together inspiration and ideas, it became increasingly clear that cowboy boots are cool, AND can virtually go with just about any outfit. They are a boot after all.
“When Raf Simons made his debut runway outing as the newly appointed Chief Creative Officer of Calvin Klein in February 2017, it was clear there was just one shoe on the designer’s mind; the cowboy boot,” explains Danielle Clausen, Miss FQ fashion editor.
“This classic style has since been reimagined by everyone from Miu Miu to Fendi. Rest assured, there are varying versions of this style available on the market ranging from humble to full-blown hoedown – it’s your call.”
The key to making cowboy boots look worldly and nonchalant – nobody likes to look like they’ve tried too hard, right? – is to wear them as you would any other boot, instead of letting them be the hero of your outfit. Think more Alexa Chung hails a black cab in London and less Taylor Swift circa 2008 *rocking* an acoustic guitar, ringlets and a hanky hem dress.
