Taking out the number one spot in last year’s report, Queen Ri’s preoccupation with her Fenty beauty and lingerie empires are likely behind this slide in ranking. Even with this reduced time int he spotlight, Rihanna has still managed to deliver some serious fashion looks. According to Lyst, the fuchsia Saint Laurent bubble dress she chose for her 30th birthday party promptly sold out worldwide. Even the Gucci balaclava she wore at Coachella caused a 19% spike in searches.

Designers,  if you want to move some suits, put a Blake Lively in it. Having developed a penchant for statement tailoring in the past 12 months, Blake’s new direction has the public’s vote. During the promotional tour for movie A Simple Favor, her cream striped double breasted two-piece by Ralph Lauren inspired over 4,000 searches for Ralph Lauren suits the following week.

The Harvard student turned international street style influencer reached unprecedented heights following the birth of her first child and wedding rapper Fedez in Dior in September. Thanks to Chiara’s epic wedding coverage for her 15m social media followers, plus the impact of thousands
of media articles surrounding the big day, we saw a 109%increase in searches for Dior the following week. (And we’re probably responsible for 99% of them!)

Serena Williams made a grand slam in the fashion stakes this year after her controversial sporting outfits at the US Open. Her “Off-White x Nike ensemble caused a surge in demand for black tennis outfits week on week and searches for ‘black tennis skirts’ and ‘black tennis dresses’ increased by 108%,” cites Lyst.

Having not appeared in last year’s top 10 at all, it’s fair to assume that Queen Bey’s accomplishment as the first ever black woman to headline at Coachella made her style moments even more monumental. Her custom Balmain yellow cropped BAK sweater caused a 58% rise in searches for Balmain hoodies while her pink suit from the viral ‘Apeshit’ video inspired a surge in pink suit searches over the summer.

Apparently, no one because the rapper’s wardrobe has gone on to become the fourth most searched in the world. From Christian Siriano to Jeremy Scott. Bardi influences customers across all price points; her support for FashionNova has helped supercharge searches for the affordable retailer.

Coming as a surprise to no one, is Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, on her road to royalty. Her wedding day outfits caused huge spikes in search for both Givenchy and Stella McCartney, while her daytime looks have also inspired millions of shoppers to try a ‘boat neck’ or ‘tuxedo dress’. According to Lyst, if Meghan wears a designer, that brand will see an average of +200% increase in search demand over the following week.

Kimmy K – who did not rank in the top ten last year, btw – has seen a swift rise to the second spot, only to be overtaken by her younger half-sister Kylie Jenner. Kim’s ability to bring back unflattering trends we thought were long gone, such as the bike shorts, Fendi logomania and neon everything and 90s thong, Kim is a champion of fast trends.

“She helped revive the Fendi logo when she posted a photo dressed head to toe in the FF “Zucca” monogram, helping boost searches by 16% month on month,” reports Lyst.

Kylie is set to run the world. 21 and set to become the youngest self-made billionaire, the youngest Kardashian has built a beauty empire, acquired over 115m Instagram followers, and had her first child.  A true style chameleon, Kylie has driven more than 2 million searches this year, from Adidas tracksuits and Dior sunglasses to Victoria Secret underwear and Alexander Wang mini dresses. According to Lyst, the pink mini dress that she wore to her birthday party saw searches for ‘pink dresses’ increase 107% in the following 48 hours.
